Rotary is organized into clubs in more than 200 countries around the world. Rotary Clubs are part of an international organization called Rotary International (R.I.).
Rotary International is headquartered in Evanston, Illinois, USA, and is governed by an annually elected president who is the head of the Board of Directors, the collegial body that, together with the Rotary Foundation Board of Trustees, administers Rotary International and its Foundation.
The role and prestige of Rotary International, as a mediator in understanding between peoples, is recognized by the United Nations, which has assigned it a permanent seat as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).
The Rotary Foundation transforms donations into projects that change lives locally and internationally.
Since its inception more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on sustainable projects that change lives for the better.
Its mission is to promote integrity and advance international understanding, goodwill and peace through our community of business, professional and community leaders.
Districts are led by a Governor, a representative of Rotary International, who uses Assistants to manage the groups of clubs into which his territory is geographically divided.
